DO YOU HAVE ANY FEEDBACK ABOUT EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH?

A Fresh, New Look at Eyelid Care

Wanna copy what I do in the exam room and level up your BLEPHARITIS / Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) eye care routine at home? EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH is a tool I created to help my patients do just that. Instead of weekly, monthly, or quarterly in office Blephex™ treatments, that were time consuming and expensive – this little, precision tool brings the clean home. Note: In the photo above, In Between Eyelash Cleansing Brush is shown. The comment is referencing Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush which I'll talk about today.

"ALL I KNOW is the product I bought it's the small eye scrubber (Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush) has saved me from styes. Soon as I started to feel it coming on, I used the brush to work out the build up."

Why the EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH Stands Out

The EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH is more than just a precision cleaning tool—it's a way to give my patients control over the day to day, ups and downs that come with having blepharitis / MGD. My patients become experts of their own eyes.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Precision Cleaning: The head of this brush is just 5mm wide x 8mm long. It's like a super tiny toothbrush but you use it to scrub the eyelid margin, not the teeth! It will scrub away eyelid margin debris and buildup. More on this later.
  • Smart Design: The head flexes back and forth to ensure safety and the ergonomic handle is designed to prevent fatigue with use.
  • Prevention: Regular and practiced use helps current flare ups and prevent future ones such as when my patients feel STYES COMING ON.
  • Materials: The bristles and head are made of a medical grade, bacterial-static Dupont® plastic.  The ferrule is aluminum the handle and plastic - both specific for wet environments.
  • Easy to Clean: Warm water & one of our foaming cleansers (or soap) to clean the brush head and handle after each use.

How to Use the EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH

  1. Start with Clean Hands: Always wash your hands before handling the brush.
  2. Apply an Oil Cleanser: Use either Tea Tree (brown label) or Rosemary (green label) Eyelid & Eyelash Cleansing Oil as the vehicle to do the dirty work. Do not use Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush naked.
  3. 10X Lighted Magnifying Mirror: This is a precision tool and precision work. I use a slit lamp microscope to do this in the exam room. My patients are required to use a 10X lighted magnifying mirror to avoid eye injury and to know exactly where they are scrubbing. My patients love this one.
  4. Gentle Strokes: The bristles are not soft like toothbrush bristles. They are firm-ish in order to get the work done. Use short, smooth, gentle strokes in a back & forth motion. With practice this becomes easier.
  5. Wash Off: Finish the double cleanse with Tea Tree (blue label) or superGLA (purple label) Eyelid & Eyelash Foaming Cleanser. Washing off any debris and washing off the cleansing oils is necessary.
  6. Wash the Brush: Wash with the same foaming cleanser as above. Use fingertips to thoroughly clean the brush head. Towel and let air dry before next use. Always wash Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush after each use.

Integrating the Brush into Your Daily Routine

Incorporating the EYELID MARGIN SCRUB BRUSH into your eye care regimen can be rewarding. With this precision tool - there is a learning curve and you will need practice.

  • Practice Makes Perfect: It's not going to be as easy as you think the first few times. My patients say it takes 5-10X before they really get the hang of it.
  • Eye Reactions: The eye will water, blink excessively, feel ticklish, feel discomfort. Some days will be better than other days. These are all normal eye responses.
  • Redness: Red eyelid margins right after a scrub session is also normal. The redness takes about 15-30 minutes to subside.
  • Timing: No more than 30 seconds per eyelid. There are a total of 4 eyelids, so no more than 2 minutes total per session. And only 1 session per day.
  • Do Not Over Scrub: The most common mistake my patients make is scrubbing really hard or scrubbing 2-4 times a day to make the eye problem go away faster. Simply not true. This just irritates the eyelid margin tissue. Gentle. Soft. Light. Once a day. These are words worth repeating when using Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush.

Actionable Tips for Best Results

  • Gentle. Soft. Light. Once a day: Less is more when it comes to Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush.
  • Practice. Practice. Practice: Some of my patients can only touch their eyelid margin 1 time for 1 second the first time. It does take practice.
  • Eye Injury: The most common mistake is not using a 10X lighted magnifying mirror and accidentally scraping the inside eyelid and causing a small abrasion. Use the mirror.
  • Consult a Professional: Ask your optometrist if Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush is right for you. You can also bring the brush and a bottle of the cleaning oil to your optometrist and ask them to demonstrate,
  • Need a Diagnosis: If you are wanting Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush for something you've diagnosed yourself with - really get an official diagnosis from your optometrist. I've had patient thinking they had a stye/chalazion, but it was actually a herpetic flare up where Eyelid Margin Scrub Brush just made it worse. Be careful.
